how it started?  

Alumni-led initiative born from lived experience.

in//border is an alumni-led and founded initiative born from the experience of growing up at the borderlands and one which aims to bring the attention that the border region deserves by providing resources and a meaningful mentorship platform to those studying architecture in El Paso, TX.

why is important?  

We are filling a void.

in//border as the initiative serves as a bridge between

TTU HCOA – El Paso and El Paso Community College [EPCC] to help architecture students at the borderlands with additional resources and tools for a smoother transition into these institutions.   

 who is it for?  

El Paso architecture students

Texas Tech University HCOA - El Paso

and EPCC El Paso Community College.

how it works?  

Through generational collaboration.

in//border  is committed to providing a mentorship platform for architecture students in El Paso. Participating students will advance in their educational and professional design careers through support from Texas Tech College of Architecture (TTU CoA) El Paso and El Paso Community College (EPCC) alumni.

Our Mentor Welcome event, hosted by Marilyn Reyes, our Mentor Coordinator, is a one-hour meeting for all mentors. During this session, we will discuss the programming details for both the fall and spring terms, go over administrative tasks specific to your role, explore additional opportunities for involvement, provide insights into the program, and offer tips on navigating everything effectively.

Mentor applications close on August 27, 2024. After that, we'll accept applications on a rolling basis. Click the button below to complete the mentorship program questionnaire.

This event marks the beginning of our program and is an essential opportunity for you to learn about it and connect with our mentorship community over snacks. 

​

During the event, you’ll be introduced to our mentors and have the chance to learn more about them. Following these introductions, you’ll be provided a survey due the following day, where you will select your top three mentor choices and explain why you feel they would be a good fit for you. Within a week of the kick-off, you will receive an email and WhatsApp message with your assigned mentor’s information. You will then be responsible for reaching out and scheduling your first meeting.

Please note attendance is mandatory to be consider part of the program.
